Conscious Sedation & Comfort Services in Arlington

Having anxiety about going to the dentist is extremely common, you are not alone. The dentists at Elite Dental Center are particularly in tune and aware of their patients' fears, and take time and additional measures to create a comfortable environment. At Elite Dental, you have the option to watch TV during your cleaning/procedure, or you can use our bluetooth headphones or yours to listen to music or a podcast. Elite Dental also offers blankets, neck pillows, comfortable dental chairs with massage capabilities, and the option to squeeze a stress ball (or two!) if desired. Our entire team, from front desk to hygienists to dental assistants, are dedicated to making your dental experience a positive one. It should not be taken for granted how impactful a friendly, knowledgeable and comforting face is in easing fear or anxiety, and it is a reason we invest in team members who contribute to that experience.

Despite taking the above steps, there are patients who may still choose a more formal sedation option, such as conscious sedation. Oral conscious sedation utilizes medication (typically Triazolam (Halcion) or Diazepam (Valium) that sedates just enough to be unaware of the treatment, some people even fall asleep. If you are concerned with being able to complete necessary dental work, speak to one of the Elite Dental dentists and they can walk you through options available.

If pursuing oral conscious sedation, you can expect to begin the medication 1 hour prior to your appointment start time. You will need a companion at your appointment who can drive you to and from our office and stay with you for the remainder of the day. Expect to take it easy the rest of the day, working is not recommended and you will not be able to operate a vehicle. Eating and drinking water is recommended, no alcohol, and the next day you will be back to normal.
