General Dentistry Questions:
Why is visiting the dentist important?
Keeping up with routine dental visits is one of the best investments you can make for your health! Oral health and overall health are tightly related and integral to one another - this includes cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Regular appointments ensure your teeth and gum tissue are protected from plaque and cavities through professional cleaning techniques and examinations. Prevention is always our preferred method to maintain tooth health for the long-term, and it is always less time and cost intensive as well. With regular examinations and cleanings, we can catch issues before they progress into a bigger issue.
How often should I be seeing a dental provider?
For a healthy dentition, an exam and cleaning should be completed every 6 months. More frequent exam and cleaning schedules may be recommended for periodontally compromised or high-risk patients.
How much does it cost to see a dentist?
Cost of care is variable depending on your specific needs, whether you participate with a PPO plan or pay directly for services. If you have a PPO plan that is either in-network or out-of-network, preventative services such as routine cleaning, X-rays and exams are likely covered at 80-100%. Additional services may be partially covered based on the specific plan and how much you or your employer pay in premiums. Payment for services in full and upfront or partial payment will be determined by your benefits. Please review your plan details and call our front desk at 703-243-4500 to ask more about your specific dental benefits!
