What Are Fillings?

Dental fillings are dental materials used to restore or fix teeth. Dentists commonly use fillings to fill a cavity, or a decayed portion of a tooth, though they also use them to fix broken or cracked teeth and those worn down from tooth grinding, nail biting, or other misuse.

To place a tooth filling, a dentist will first remove the decay, then clean out the area before filling the hole with a filling material.

Our fillings are made from Composite resin, or tooth-colored plastic and glass.

What Are Dental Crowns?

A dental crown is a cap shaped like a tooth that a dentist places over a broken, weak, or decayed tooth to cover it, thereby restoring its function and appearance.

To be sure a tooth crown fits properly, your dentist will need to take off a small bit of enamel prior to bonding the new crown in position.

What Types of Dental Crowns Are There?

You can get crowns made of a range of materials. Your dentist will help you determine which one is best for you based on your particular dental needs and your own preferences.

• Ceramic or porcelain crowns – More than any other type of crown, these closely imitate the look of tooth enamel.
• Bruxzir Zirconia – made out of the strongest ceramic dental material, no porcelain coating.Bruxzir crowns are fabricated out of solid zirconia, which is the strongest ceramic dental material. Unlike other types of ceramic crowns, Bruxzir crowns do not have a porcelain coating. This ultimately means that they are not prone to chipping like all-porcelain crowns
• Emax and Zirconia are both a relatively new type of porcelain material that has quickly become the state of the art in dentistry. Emax is a brand name for a crown made from Lithium Disilicate. It is a porcelain that is manufactured from a solid block: making it “monolithic”.
